Flyfishing Rods - SINTRIX Flyfishing Rods
Back to ProductsProaxis
Overview
The Proaxis ranges of 1 and 4 section fly rods have been designed and developed by Hardy in conjunction with some of the worlds finest saltwater guides and anglers.
Our development team, led by five times Tarpon Gold Cup Grand Champion, Andy Mill, have pushed Hardy’s new Sintrix technology to the absolute limit - and the end result is staggering in both performance and durability.
These fast-action rods are loaded with cutting edge features, like lightweight saltwater-safe hardware, titanium recoil guides and, of course, Hardy’s revolutionary Sintrix material. Proaxis rods are lighter, stronger, more impact resistant and capable of withstanding much higher loads than standard graphite fly rods.
So, with less chance of damage, you can cast further, fish longer and fight harder when pursuing big saltwater species
Proaxis 1-Section Fly
Proaxis 1 Section rods have been designed and developed to offer the ultimate rod for the professional saltwater fly angler. The one section design provides a perfect match for the extreme challenges and pressures of saltwater fishing. Designed and manufactured with Sintrix (the latest in silica reinforced matrix resins), these rods can give up to 60% increase in compressive strength - and when combined with the one section design improves power transfer and removes the worry of a joint working loose in the heat of battle. The improved weight distribution further enhances the superb balance Proaxis range.
Range from 8’ 10” eight weight - 8’ 10” 12 weight
Proaxis 4-Section Fly
With all the benefits of the 1-Section rods, the 4-Section Proaxis have been designed and developed to offer the ultimate rod for the professional saltwater fly angler - but in an easy to transport, four section format.
Range from 9’ six weight - 9’ 12 weight
- Designed and developed in conjunction with Andy Mill
- Manufactured with Hardy & Greys Sintrix Material - giving up to 60% increase in compressive strength.
- Incredible strength to weight ratio

Reviews
“There are so many superlatives that I could use to describe the Proaxis performance that it seems wise to stick with the simple but very effective ‘awesome’.”
“As a flats rod this loads easily and lets me make accurate medium and short distance casts directly into a decent wind [...] Build is excellent. Titanium alloy Recoil rings are light and saltwater-proof. Good size and shape to the grip, very good cork. The reel seat is secure, the second ring locks well and I did need that. The seat takes Hardy reels snugly. [...] Hardy has used its advanced Sintrix composite to build these blanks, so they are unusually light and should be exceptionally robust. (I've yet to break one but I still brought a spare rod on that trip.) Hardy at the top of its game.”
Testimonials
"Have tried hard to break the double handed prototype versions of this with slack line casting, windy conditions, heavy sunk lines. Even given them to the worst rod breakers I know, all of whom have the "rod breaking trait" in their casting style, and as yet all are intact. Have caught small fish but looking forward to testing this on a big one."
Ian Gordon - AAPGAI instructor and reknowned Spey caster
"I have fished the SINTRIX prototype rods exclusively for three weeks and they are the finest rods I have ever fished. There is only one problem. Now I have to buy a new set of fly rods!"
Thayne Morgan - World Cup Tarpon Champion 2010
I was a nonbeliever - I have used the same one piece stick for the past 26 years, it didn't cast so well but wouldn't break - But your rod casts beautifully and believe me I tried to break it. We pulled on a 150, 130, and 120. Broke a hook, bent a hook, but that 12 weight Hardy didn't miss a beat. Congrats on producing the finest fly rod I have ever had in my hand
