Gwilym Hughes is a native of North Wales and has fished for Salmon / Seatrout and Trout for over 40 years.

His dedication to angling and competitive spirit was honed in the early eighties, he has represented ‘Wales' at International Level on 17 occasions and has an impressive trophy cabinet, he was the first angler in the history of the Home International's to have achieved the double, ‘International Champion' in both the Lakes and River Matches.

He excelled also in other competitive fly fishing matches in particular 1984 when he won nine out of nine competitions he entered, his tackle then consisted of  ‘ Hardy Fred Buller 11' 5# and ‘Hardy Sovereign 9' 6# with an array of ‘Perfect' Reels, for this achievement he was entered in the ‘Hardy Hall of Fame'.

Gwilym has both S.T.A.N.I.C. and A.P.G.A.I. in Salmon / Trout / Fly Dressing, he is a  mentor for the technical elements of both qualifications in all disciplines and also ‘Assesses' at all levels. Gwilym now uses the ‘ Hardy Demon' and ‘Hardy Marksman' range of Rods and Reels for  all his fishing, and runs a business in ‘Tuition and Guiding Game Angling',  G.H.Sporting' (www.GwilymHuhges.com)
