GAIAFinlay began fishing in the south west of Scotland at the age of six. After a childhood spent catching Perch, Roach, Bream and Pike in the local lochs he discovered his passion for Wild Brown Trout, Grayling, Salmon and especially Sea Trout on the River Annan and its tributaries.
Finlay has fished extensively around Scotland, particularly in the pursuit of Wild Trout and has written an angling column in ‘Scotland on Sunday' newspaper for several years and has more recently contributed features for ‘Fly Fishing & Fly Tying' and ‘Trout & Salmon' magazines.
Finlay now runs ‘Fish Wild' which strives to deliver a high level of client satisfaction and fishing in stunning locations with guiding/instruction readily available on private beats. Full packages including accommodation can be organised, as can trips to the likes of Islay and Jura.
Finlay is based on the Upper Tweed near Peebles where he lives with his wife and two daughters and manages the Dawyck Estate beat on the river. He is a GAIA Level 2 qualified instructor, fully insured, and has completed child protection and first aid courses.
