Howard Taylor has fly fished for over 30 years, landing his first trout on the fly at the tender age of 10.

He was lucky enough to have been taught to fish and fly dress by legends such as Taff Price, John Veniard and Donald Downs.

Since then he has worked as a riverkeeper in the famous Test valley, qualified with a degree in biology studying New Forest streams and founded Upstreamdryfly, a business offering the finest chalkstream fly fishing days on the Wessex chalkstreams, as well as specialist fly fishing trips further a field.

He loves fishing upstream dry fly and nymph on his home rivers and recently won the inaugural River Test One Fly competition as top individual. He is a very keen seatrout fisherman and also enjoys saltwater flyfishing both on the south coast of Hampshire and Dorset for Atlantic bass as well being passionate about tropical saltwater fly fishing for bonefish and tarpon.

Howard's favourite saltwater quarry is the elusive permit. Last year he took his first Super Grand Slam - a permit, tarpon, bonefish and snook in the same day...all with Hardy Zane gear!

Howard is a regular contributor to Trout and Salmon Magazine and his articles and photographs on both salt and fresh water fly fishing have been published in the popular angling press and on various fly fishing websites.

Howard enjoys instructing and guiding as much as catching the fish himself. He has hooked many youngsters and newcomers to the sport over the last few seasons and he has arranged fishing and guided for several celebrities and VIPs.
